The house mouse (Mus musculus) is Australia's most widespread and persistent domestic rodent pest. Found in every state and territory, it thrives in both urban and rural environments, adapting rapidly to changes in its surroundings. A small, undetected mouse problem can become a serious infestation remarkably quickly — particularly over the cooler months when mice seek warmth and shelter inside buildings.
